TAKING A STEP BEYOND THE VISIBLE

I could travel for hours, days, weeks. Getting to the destination can be equally eventful as reaching it even if it means getting excited by passing landscapes (I'm weird, I know). Firing up my imagination with two hour drive to breathe in the stale air of Gothic Exeter Cathedral was on our schedule this Saturday. We almost decided to move there immediately, that's how refreshingly drawn we were to one of the biggest cities of Devon. Weather was so dear to our hearts surprising us with bright skies and a light breeze. We visited Exeter a couple of times before and were greeted with short showers and blowing wind on every occasion so this time there was nothing to complain about.

The highlight of today was definitely the old Cathedral which we checked up, down and around and still had so many questions and doubts left. When I was younger Middle Ages were among my utmost interest together with its fascination of death, ugliness and intriguing objects. Wandering around walls that hold secrets and mysteries is more interesting than watching the most widespread hit movie. The atmosphere was elegiac, whispers accompanied hushed foot steps. And then this crowd sitting, eating and chatting noisily once you stepped out the gates of the sacred place. We love you Exeter and will be back for sure!
